Art of the Western World Fact Sheet - Outline and sample questions.
Recommended Course of Study:
Begin with the Art Through Time website. Watch the videos, read the texts and guides, and explore the "compare" links. Next, watch the Art of the Western World videos. Finally, visit the Smarthistory site and explore the different topics found in the various sections. (This site is enormous and has over 200 videos to choose from.)
Also, visit the links in the "additional resources" section to study art appreciation further.
No tests/exams are included for this course. If desired, an art or art history project, such as an essay comparing two or more famous artists could be assigned, for grading purposes. (High school students who take the DSST exam can use this test as a final grade.)
Note: If you have access to a public library, you should borrow Art Appreciation and Art History books for additional reading. Consider visiting the children's section for "quick-read" books on specific topics such as "Sculptures" or "Modern Art."
