DSST Exam Outline
Here's to Your Health Fact Sheet - outline and sample questions for the test.
Recommended Course of Study:
Complete the online courses. Download the PASS textbooks. Design a course of study that includes reading from the books, completing the worksheets within, and supplement with the health activities available on the additional primary sources sites. Also read the short pamphlet, "Take Charge of Your Health" and explore the "Teen Health: Food and Fitness" wesbite, which has numerous articles on a variety of topics. In addition, consider creating an account with the Excercise and Activity Tracker.
You should look for books to borrow from your local library covering health topics, such as nutrition and the negative effects of drug use. If you are unable to visit a local library, you may try the online version: The Internet Public Library For Teens.
There is no End-of-Course exam for this course. If final graded work is needed, a project or research paper can be used. Suggested ideas are:
Design a daily exercise program and written log of activities. Monitor weight and heart rate and record information on log.
Create a Food Nutrition display board (aka "science project display") that includes such things as the recommended daily allowances of food and vitamins and minerals for teens and suggestions for healthy snacks.
Write a research paper on any topic covered in the Life Management book.
High School students who take the DSST exam can use this test as a final exam.
