What is Homeschool College USA?
Homeschool College USA (HC USA) is a website dedicated to helping students complete their high school education and study for college-level exams for credit, without spending a fortune. Thanks to the internet, a vast repository of information is available to anyone desiring to learn about any number of subjects. HC USA has gathered a collection of links, divided by individual courses, that may be used by students who are self-directed and ready to take responsibility for their educations and futures.
If you are looking to earn a college degree, either on the associate's or bachelor's level, but attending a “traditional” school is currently not possible, you may want to consider using a testing/examination program to meet your goals.
There are three accredited colleges that will accept your test scores for enough credit to be awarded a degree, with one "capstone" course required.* Known in some circles as “The Big Three,” these schools are
Any of the three schools may meet your needs and you should take the time to explore each of them in turn.
If you are interested in earning a degree by examination, there are several steps you need to take. Learn what each of The Big Three schools have to offer as degrees, what their costs are, and any requirements you need to meet to enroll.
All courses offered on HC USA use only free resources found on the internet. Occasionally there may be a recommendation for a product/book that is not free, but those recommendations are always optional.
Due to the nature of the internet, websites come and go. Information and pages change. Content that was once free is later offered at a fee. Anytime this happens, HC USA will seek out an alternative source when possible.
What Homeschool College USA is not.
Homeschool College USA is not an accredited school or university. It does not offer transcripts, diplomas, or guarantees that you will pass any of your college-level exams. It is here to help you locate the information you need to study in order to finish high school and/or earn a college degree through exams.
Complete lesson plans and schedules are not offered. It is up to you to design your own course of study. Even if you are not a homeschooling high schooler, you may wish to read the information found HERE about putting together a study schedule.
Be sure to explore the HC USA website thoroughly, to answer any questions you may have.
*The colleges require a final capstone course which students can take online through the schools themselves. This course centers around a project or paper geared toward the major area of study. Please note that Charter Oak State College also requires a "cornerstone" course that is designed to "prepare" students for online learning.
